Hard-working. Motivating. Driven.
Three words that can be used when describing Danielle. She continues to improve her fitness because she works from the second she steps foot in the gym and she helps us all get a little more out of ourselves when we’re in the middle of a grueling workout. We’re proud of ya, Danielle!
When did you start doing CrossFit?
I started doing crossfit a little over 2 years ago, but I started working with Vernon about 3 years ago at Lifetime’s boot camp class.
My favorite WODs are usually the longer WODs or heavy-ish barbell movements.
Least favorite WOD/Movement?
I strongly dislike squats (shocking, I know)
Tell us a little about yourself (Job, sports background, family, hobbies, etc.)
I got married in September and currently live in Eden Prairie with my husband. I work as a Transportation Engineer. I just learned how to knit which has been surprisingly very relaxing for me and I enjoy crossfit and running – even have convinced my mom and sister to do crossfit on Saturdays with me!
What did you do for exercise before CrossFit?
I had been athletic through high school playing sports but mainly fastpitch softball. After going to college and not playing softball anymore, I picked up running. After graduating in 2012, I decided to run my first half marathon. During training I had joined Lifetime and that’s when Vernon convinced me to do boot camp.
What did you think about CrossFit after your first workout with us?
I don’t particularly my first “offical” crossfit workout but I remember my first boot camp class and it was the first time ever doing kettlebell swings – I was sore for a week. I thought well, clearly I need something more than just running and crossfit keeps me from getting sick of my workouts and I love the team/competitiveness!
How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym?
I’ve become more confident and I am better (usually) about my nutrition and what I eat. I feel happier and healthier.
What advice would you give to someone just starting CrossFit?
Just keep moving and remember we all started out at the bottom. It can be intimidating at first but everyone is so supportive and will cheer you on and it makes it all worth it.
Anything we don’t know about you that we should?
I’m not good with open ended questions so I’m not sure how to answer this…
